The following workshops can be facilitated at your institution:

 

  Workshop Target audience Nature of the workshop
1. Writing a research proposal for master’s or doctoral studies Prospective master’s and doctoral studies This is a hands-on workshop with sections of a draft research proposal as end product. Access to computer and library facilities is needed
2. Selecting material for an article from a thesis or dissertation Academics or students who have completed masters or doctoral studies or any other substantial research project This is a hands-on workshop with the framework of one or more articles as end-product
3. Post-graduate supervision Supervisors of master’s and doctoral students Various topics related to the post-graduate supervision process and to the role of the supervisor are discussed
4. Assessment of theses, dissertation and other research reports Supervisors of master’s and doctoral students Criteria for different sections of research report/thesis are discussed followed by practical analyses of examples individually and in groups
5. Literature review and scientific writing Post-graduate students who need to write a literature review for a thesis During practical scientific writing exercises participants get the opportunity to assess the relevance of articles and integrate information from various texts in order to substantiate arguments
6. Questionnaire construction and reporting quantitative results Post-graduate students or academic staff members This workshop includes theory and practical sessions, with the first draft of a questionnaire as end product
7. Introduction to Qualitative research Post-graduate students or academic staff members This workshop deals with various ways of collecting and analysing qualitative data, as well as how to report the results. Practical data analysis exercises are included
8 Using ATLAS.ti for qualitative data analysis Post-graduate students or academic staff members who need to analyse qualitative data In this workshop participants use the computer assisted qualitative data analysis software ATLAS.ti following the three steps needed for application in data analysis. The workshop: Introduction to Qualitative research is a pre-requisite for this workshop
9 Writing for an International Journal Experienced authors who would like to publish in international journals This workshop aims to facilitate reflection and to create opportunities for authors to discover the potential of their article for reaching a wider academic audience.
